I2BC staff actively contributes to the discussion of ideas, to the popularization of science and to raising public awareness of the importance of the scientific approach and the beauty of life.

Our staff is involved in scientific outreach initiatives for young people, such as « Declics » (dialogue entre chercheurs et lycéens pour les intéresser à la construction du savoir), « scientifique toi aussi », « skype a scientist ». Many researchers are involved in the « Femmes & Sciences » association, which promotes women scientists and encourages young people, especially girls, to embark on scientific careers. Several researchers of I2BC are involved in The Femmes & Sciences mentoring program for Paris-Saclay PhD students.

Finally, every year, the unit welcomes some twenty middle and high school students for internships.

For a wider public, our staff is involved in the dissemination of scientific culture through numerous interventions in the media (newspapers, radio and TV). I2BC staff also contribute to the dissemination of scientific culture through lectures at the “Cité des sciences et de l’industrie”, or through participation in dedicated events such as “Fête de la science”, “Bar des sciences”, “UniverCité”.
